Multi-level renovation for artists home & studio

Originally a stone cottage, this multi level home has evolved through a series of additions, each bringing its own character. The renovation carefully stripped back and refreshed the entire dwelling while celebrating its original timber floors, detailed ceilings and complex rooflines. Bespoke myrtle joinery brings warmth and rich natural texture throughout, from the central kitchen and living spaces to the expanded family bathroom, complete with heated floors and a playful nod to Dark Mofo. Set on a steep hillside with restricted access, the project required careful planning, precise sequencing and practical problem-solving from the building team at every stage. Downstairs, an artist’s studio, study and powder room create a peaceful creative retreat immersed in sweeping valley views and birdsong. The result is an eclectic and beautifully resolved marriage of old and new with the adjoining stone cottage renovation still to come.
